Woman arrested, warrant for man in high-speed vehicle pursuit, crash involving their 2-year-old child

TOLEDO, Ohio — Police arrested a woman on Monday and have issued a warrant for a man due to a high-speed vehicle pursuit between them last week that ended in multiple injuries, including their 2-year-old child, and a mangled scene at a west Toledo intersection.

Ashley Mason, 34, was arrested on one misdemeanor count of endangering children for the incident on the morning of Dec. 22. There is an open warrant for the same charge for Emilio Garcia, 31.

According to court documents, Mason was hitting Garcia while he was holding the child as the two were exchanging custody at a gas station. Garcia then got into vehicle with the child unrestrained in his lap and drove away at a high rate of speed in an attempt to escape Mason as she followed them. The pursuit went down Berdan Avenue, with both vehicles doubling the road’s 35 mph speed limit during the chase…
