TOLEDO, Ohio — The Lucas County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity and cause of death of the 19-year-old whose body was found in the Maumee River in downtown Toledo on Monday after he was reported missing more than a month earlier.
According to Lucas County Coroner Tom Blomquist, Jeremiah Porchia’s cause of death was determined to be drowning. While Blomquist was not able to provide an exact date of death for Porchia, he said in an email to WTOL 11 that it was clear Porchia’s body had been “submerged for some time prior to discovery.” Porchia, who was last known to be alive on Nov. 24 per a missing person’s report, has an actual date of death somewhere between that date and Dec. 29, when his body was found.
The coroner’s office said Porchia’s death is most likely closest to the date of the missing person’s report. A manner of death was not provided…
