Bicyclist fatally struck by vehicle in Point Place; driver arrested on vehicular homicide charge

TOLEDO, Ohio — A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle in Point Place and the driver has been arrested on an aggravated vehicular homicide charge after fleeing the scene Wednesday afternoon.

Timothy Haase, 44, of Toledo was on a bike in a bike lane at a red light at Summit and 131st streets around 2:15 p.m. when a driver approaching the intersection from the same direction swerved to avoid traffic and hit Haase from the rear, according to police.
