No Lucas County bridges in ‘critical’ condition, 2025 inspection report finds

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — Drivers in Lucas County are not crossing any county-maintained bridges deemed to be in critical or failed condition, according to the county’s 2025 bridge inspection results.

Lucas County Engineer Mike Pniewski presented the annual Bridge Inspection Report to county commissioners Tuesday morning, noting that most bridges maintained by the county remain in “good” or “better” condition.

“What we found is the general condition of our bridges is getting worse,” Pniewski said. “We need to be aware that as our bridges get older, we are going to need to be able to recapitalize at some point. And we’re going to have to continue to ask our state and federal legislators for help to get the resources we need.”…
