High lead levels found in Fulton County near demolition site, air quality testing shows

DELTA, Ohio — High concentrations of lead have been found in the air near a demolition site in Delta, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency announced

Demolition activity in November and December at the Bunting Bearings facility in the village prompted additional air monitoring tests when, during routine testing, Ohio EPA staff noticed significant dust coming from the area, Ohio EPA officials said Tuesday.

“In November, the company began demolishing structures at its Van Buren Street facility as part of a process to move its operations to Mansfield, Ohio,” the EPA said in a statement. “Due to the proximity of the demolition to residential areas, Ohio EPA expedited the December air sample analysis.”…
