Smokey Bones in Maumee closes

MAUMEE, Ohio — The Smokey Bones location in Maumee permanently closed Monday, according to a sign posted to the door of the business.

The parking lot of the Dussel Drive location was empty Monday afternoon. The sign on the door read, “We regret to announce that this location has permanently closed as of Monday, Jan. 12. We thank our loyal guests for many wonderful years.”

In September, Smokey Bones’ parent company, Twin Hospitality, announced it had identified 15 underperforming Smokey Bones locations. It said 10 had been closed as of the September press release, and an additional five would be closed by the end of the fiscal third quarter.
