The fraternity, which King belonged to during his lifetime, has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships over the past 34 years to honor his service, leadership and legacy. This year’s scholarships provided recipients up to $5,000 to be used toward college expenses for the fall 2026 semester.

The morning’s scholarship recipients were:

  • Khali Moore
  • Michael A. Carr, III
  • Christian Kynard
  • Brayden Miller
  • Rashaun Coley, Jr.
  • Jaden Tolliver
  • Ward Barnett, Jr.

“It just means a lot to me,” said Jaden Tolliver, one of the scholarship recipients. “I’m very happy they gave me this scholarship. I think I’m capable of doing great things in the future. I’m blessed for this opportunity.”

The 13ABC team was well represented at the event, with our very own Kristian Brown proudly serving as emcee. Our news director, James Starks, Alexis Means, Gerald Harris and our sales staff were also in attendance.
