MONROE CO, Mich. (WTVG) – County residents gathered to rally against data centers in Monroe County today.
They protested proposed facilities in Dundee and Frenchtown Twp. The group braved the cold at the corner of Elm and Monroe St.
Organizers said they wanted to send a message.
“These data centers target small rural communities so they can buy up land for pennies on the dollar. This is a fight across the state. This isn’t just a fight that’s local to Frenchtown or Dundee,” said David Alcenius, a community organizer. “Seeing our communities come together to fight this is how we beat them. Showing data center developers that they’re not welcome in our communities because they’re not good neighbors. That’s what we’re doing here today.”…
