Toledo’s emergency overnight warming center already open 10 times as many days as last winter

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Staff at St. Paul’s United Methodist in Toledo have been putting away the pews to turn the sanctuary of faith into a sanctuary from the cold.

“This is humanity, how do we keep each other alive?” said Lead Pastor Leo Cunningham.

Pastor Cunningham knows when the weather drops to dangerous levels, it’s time to come back to the church to transform St. Paul’s UMC into an emergency overnight warming center…
