TOLEDO, Ohio — Two families are safe after an early morning fire impacted two homes in central Toledo – a fire that, due to freezing conditions, was proving to be difficult for firefighting crews.
Toledo Fire and Rescue crews responded to Hackett Road just before 3 a.m. WTOL 11 learned that the fire began in one home before traveling to a second home. The occupants of the first home weren’t inside when the fire began. The occupants of the second home – two adults and two children, one of whom was an infant – got out safely.
Fire crews were still battling the fire as of 4:15 a.m. However, bitterly cold conditions were causing fire hydrants to freeze, which was causing issues in getting water onto the fire…
