Rossford police chief announces retirement

ROSSFORD, Ohio — Rossford police Chief Todd Kitzler will be stepping down from the force after more than seven years of leading it.

Kitzler announced his retirement on Facebook on Wednesday, saying that he is proud of the Rossford Police Department’s accomplishments and how he has helped it become “one of the greatest small Police departments in the State of Ohio.”

He said his retirement from the force is part of a long-held belief that a police chief should not stay put in their role for more than five years, noting that he overshot that time period by about two years. Kitzler also said he has spent the last 40 years either serving as a soldier or police officer…
