TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Students at the University of Toledo and across Ohio gathered in protest Friday, calling for their universities to adopt an anti-ICE policy to protect students from immigration enforcement.
“People are here to protect each other. We are building community and our community is standing up against injustice,” said Nevaeh Schaeffer, vice president of the Ohio Students Organization in Toledo. “The University of Toledo is so much more than a university here; it’s a big part of Toledo.”
