Award-winning jazz pianist to perform at UToledo Art Tatum Memorial Concert

TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo will welcome award-winning jazz pianist, composer and educator Lisa Sung as the guest performer for the 2026 Art Tatum Memorial Concert this month.

Sung will perform during the free, public performance at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18. The performance will be held in UToledo’s Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall.

According to a press release from the university, Sung will be accompanied by UToledo faculty Norman Damschroder on double bass, Dr. Olman Piedra on drums and Jay Weik on guitar. Sung, who is also an adjunct professor at Calvin University and Aquinas College in Michigan, is known for her exploration of world musical traditions through jazz, the university said. For example, her debut album, “Half Moon,” offers jazz interpretations of Korean children’s songs. She has also explored Indonesian folk melodies and plans to continue her international work with tours in Brazil and the Philippines this year…
