TOLEDO, Ohio — A Perrysburg High School freshman is turning an Eagle Scout service project into a growing resource at a local college.
Fourteen-year-old Caleb Blaine, a Boy Scout working toward his Eagle Scout rank, created the “Present Pantry” at Mercy College of Ohio to provide toys for the children of college students who may be struggling financially.
“I knew that there was a food pantry here at Mercy College. My mom works here, and I thought some college kids might be struggling with also having children,” said Blaine. “Sometimes their kids do need things like toys for birthdays and holidays. So I wanted to make this accessible for our college kids here on campus that they can obtain for their kids.”…
