Last Saturday night’s drive on U.S. 23 in Whiteford Township turned deadly when a 60-year-old Ottawa Lake woman was killed, and two teenagers were seriously injured in a head-on crash that shut down part of the highway.
The collision happened around 10 p.m. and brought out multiple emergency crews as traffic was routed away from the scene.
According to ClickOnDetroit, the woman was driving a Ford Escape southbound in a northbound lane of U.S. 23 when she hit a Ford F-150 driven by an 18-year-old. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, and everyone involved was reported to be wearing seat belts. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the two teenagers were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police told the outlet that careless driving was a factor in the crash.
