‘It’s terrifying’: Parents raise safety concerns after ammunition incident at Bedford Junior High

TEMPERANCE, Mich. — Some parents in Bedford Public Schools are raising concerns about student safety and district communication after officials say several pieces of ammunition were brought to Bedford Junior High last week.

District leaders said in a letter to families that no weapon was present and there was no ongoing threat to students or staff. School administrators secured the ammunition and followed safety protocols, according to the district.

Superintendent Carl Shultz said three shotgun shells were found inside the school. He said two students were disciplined in connection with the incident but declined to specify whether the punishment involved suspension or expulsion, citing privacy restrictions.
