Toledo couple indicted after man allegedly cut brake line, posed as probation officer to prevent girlfriend’s firing

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man involved in an alleged scheme to pose as law enforcement to protect his girlfriend’s bar job is now accused of attempted murder.

Kenneth Upchurch and Amanda Lancaster, each 41, were indicted Thursday. Both are charged with impersonation of a peace officer and telecommunication fraud.

Court documents allege the couple sent several text messages and an email to Lancaster’s boss at The Old Bag of Nails restaurant on Nov. 7, 2025, posing as the woman’s probation officer and asking her supervisor to excuse her for being late to work…
