Toledo man indicted on charges of aiming laser at State Highway Patrol helicopter

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo man has been indicted in federal court for allegedly aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft while it was in flight.

A federal grand jury in January returned an indictment charging 41-year-old Branden Jay Lounsbury, of Toledo, with one count of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft or its flight path.

According to a recently unsealed indictment, Lounsbury allegedly aimed a laser pointer at an Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter on June 2, 2025, while the aircraft was flying in U.S. airspace. Authorities say he was arrested in Michigan on Feb. 10…
