LUCKEY, Ohio — The owners of a quarry are looking to dismiss Luckey’s attempt to take land via eminent domain, calling it a “complete sham” with “calculated, continuous, and shocking misrepresentations” by village officials.
Motions filed by the owners of the property, Tim and Steve Snyder, question the village’s purpose for taking the land and cite audio recordings with current and past elected officials. If granted, the village would be ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal and court costs.
The village says it intended to use the quarry as a source for a public water system, but the property owners claim that recorded conversations with elected officials reveal “the entire basis for this proceeding was, at all times, a complete ‘sham.’”…
