West Toledo restaurant celebrates Pi Day by turning pie sales into help for those in need

TOLEDO, Ohio — March 14 is widely known as Pi Day, a celebration of the math number, 3.14. But in west Toledo, the day has taken on a sweeter and more meaningful purpose.

At Schmucker’s Restaurant, the annual Pi Day celebration combines homemade pie with community giving. On Saturday, the restaurant donated $1 to Cherry Street Mission for every slice, mini pie and whole pie sold.
