Lucas County grand jury indicts two teens in dragging death of Toledo man during shoe robbery

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Lucas County grand jury has indicted two teenagers on murder charges in connection with the death of 18-year-old Joaquin Simmons, who was dragged by a car during a shoe robbery arranged through Facebook Marketplace.

Chase Davis and James Ramsey, both 17 at the time of the crime, were indicted on charges of murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault. Both will be tried as adults.

In March 2025, police say Simmons met with a group of people to sell a pair of shoes. His family says a disagreement arose over the price of the Balenciaga shoes. One of the suspects allegedly grabbed the shoes, and as the group drove away, Simmons was dragged down the road. He later died from his injuries…
