15-year-old Monroe High School student arrested for allegedly attempting to carjack fellow student at gunpoint

MONROE, Mich. — Authorities arrested a 15-year-old Monroe High School student who allegedly attempted to carjack another student at gunpoint in the school’s parking lot Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies took the juvenile shortly after the attempted carjacking into custody at a home in Monroe Township, where they also found a pellet gun resembling a real firearm, according to a press release.

The sheriff’s office said the incident happened when the 15-year-old approached the other student, an 18-year-old, who was sitting in his car in the high school parking lot on Herr Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. and asked for a vape cartridge. The 18-year-old said he did not have a vape and the 15-year-old then “produced a silver, revolver style handgun from his waistband,” pointed it at the other student and demanded his vehicle.
