Teenager pleads to misdemeanor for hiding gun used to shoot friend

A boy whose friend is alleged to have been shot in the head by the friend’s brother admitted to a misdemeanor in juvenile court Thursday for removing the gun from the scene.

Shawn Middleton, 16, had been charged in Lucas County Juvenile Court with delinquency for third-degree felony obstructing justice because he accepted the gun Robert McClure, 16, allegedly used to shoot Jaidon Davis, 13, on Jan. 18.

But under questioning Thursday by Patricia Wardrop, chief of juvenile prosecution for the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office, young Middleton said he accepted the gun only out of fear, and immediately told another friend’s mother where he stashed it. Police then recovered the gun…
