Officials investigating security incident that impacted county websites

Lucas County officials took some systems offline from county websites in response to a security incident that impacted the network, a county spokesman said.

The Auditor’s Real Estate Information System, or AREIS, was restored after 8 p.m. Tuesday after having been down since at least Sunday. The Lucas County dog licensing portal was also down on Tuesday.

“Upon learning of the incident, we took certain systems offline out of an abundance of caution and began a thorough investigation with leading information security experts,” said Sarah Elms, Lucas County communications director. “Our primary focus remains on a safe and efficient remediation process and the restoration of our systems.”…
