Man charged with murder, dismemberment of Malicai Calder found incompetent to stand trial

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Lucas County Common Pleas judge ruled the man accused of killing and dismembering 27-year-old Malicai Calder last fall incompetent to stand trial after reviewing a psychiatric assessment.

At his competency hearing Wednesday, Judge Joseph McNamara also ordered Martel Huggins, 34, to receive psychiatric treatment at Northwest Ohio Behavioral Center. The psychiatric assessment found Huggins displayed symptoms of psychosis and could become competent to stand trial through treatment.
