- Save the Bridge Association will appeal to Waterville Council to review an adaptive reuse plan for the historic Roche de Boeuf bridge, which faces demolition after an auction sale fell through in 2021.
A local organization will make an “11th hour appeal” to save the historic Roche de Boeuf bridge from demolition during a special session of Waterville Council Monday evening.
Save the Bridge Association (STBA) said Waterville Council will review an adaptive reuse plan for the bridge during a 6:30 p.m. meeting. Roche de Boeuf, a more than 100-year-old structure crossing the Maumee River, was listed for demolition in 2021 after an auction sale fell through. In April 2025, the Ohio Department of Transportation delayed the demolition project.
Currently, ODOT’s bids for demolition are set to close on Thursday, April 9. STBA said its move to prevent the demolition will include a presentation from a professional civil engineer and Ohio bridge inspector with a history of saving concrete bridges, STBA said…
