WATERVILLE – Over its 118 year life span, the Roche de Boeuf Interurban Bridge has been a source of transportation, inspiration and exploration. Unless Gov. Mike DeWine reconsiders the March 27 decision to deny a request for another one-year reprieve on its planned demolition, the historic landmark may only be a memory in a few years.
“This is a beautiful asset for our town,” said local artist Teri Utz Bersee, holding a framed painting of the bridge that she is delivering to the governor today, April 7.
On April 6, Bersee was one of several presenters during a special Waterville City Council special meeting, called by Mayor Tim Pedro just three days ahead of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s date to open bids from construction companies interested in handling the two-year project to dismantle the bridge. Unless Pedro can sway DeWine with “new information” that will change his mind, those plans will go forward…
