Hiking into springtime fun at local parks

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – It’s one of the best times of the year to get outside for some fresh air and exercise. And there are a lot of places to do just that in the Toledo area. We hit the trails to learn more about a special Wood County Park District program focused on helping you discover all the beauty around us.

Jessie Walton-Summers is the community and communications specialist for the park district. “We have 28 parks and preserves around Wood County, and each one has its own unique factors. We have everything from prairies to savannahs and hiking trails to ponds for kayaking. There are tons of things to do for conservation and recreation. There are a lot of beautiful and diverse ecosystems in the county.”

There’s a fun way to take it all in and win prizes in the process. “We’re really trying to engage more Wood County citizens to get out and explore the parks, so that is how we came up with the All Parks and the Hiking Challenge Passport.”…
