State awards $61M for brownfield remediation in 75 counties: Here are the projects receiving grants in northwest Ohio

OHIO, USA — Northwest Ohio communities will receive millions of dollars in state funding to clean up contaminated properties and prepare them for redevelopment, state officials announced Thursday.

The funding, distributed through the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program, will support dozens of projects in the region, including site assessments, asbestos abatement and demolition of long-vacant buildings. The work is intended to prepare properties for new housing, commercial development and public infrastructure.

Notably, the city of Toledo was awarded $571,342 for cleanup and remediation of the aging Toledo-Lucas County Health Department building to prepare the site for future redevelopment and new commercial or community-focused uses, according to the state. The project is expected to create 10 new jobs…
