Tucson-Pima County Offering Up to $50,000 in Down Payment Help for Homebuyers

Homebuyers in the City of Tucson and Pima County can now access up to $50,000 in down payment assistance through a refreshed joint city-county program—but eligibility comes with clear income, savings, and purchase-price requirements.

The City of Tucson–Pima County HOME Consortium Down Payment Assistance program offers a deferred loan of up to $50,000—or 20% of the purchase price, whichever is less—with no monthly payments and a 2% interest rate during the affordability period. At the end of that period, accrued interest is forgiven, but the principal must be repaid when you sell the home.

To qualify, buyers must earn at or below 80% of the area median income—$79,850 for a family of four, or $55,900 for a single person. They must also contribute at least $1,000 of their own funds and have two months of mortgage payments in savings after closing.

Price caps and loan terms
