A 58-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he stabbed another man near Santa Rita Park last Monday, leaving the victim with a severe stomach wound and exposed internal organs. Apache Bear-Shadow was arrested by Tucson police and is now held on a $200,000 bond after the victim was taken for surgery.
According to KVOA, officers responded to an area near the park last Monday and found the victim suffering life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital for surgery. Bear-Shadow was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault as well as possession of drugs, the station reports.
Santa Rita Park
The stabbing happened near Santa Rita Park, at 401 East 22nd Street, according to the City of Tucson. The 22-acre park is slated to receive new athletic fields, shade structures, and walking paths.
Established in 1931 at 22nd Street and 2nd Avenue, Santa Rita Park is among the oldest municipal parks in the city, per the Pima County Public Library. The library’s historical account mentions a Santa Rita Park Pool.
