TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — Tucson firefighters rescued three people from rushing floodwaters within just 30 minutes Monday evening, as heavy rain turned city washes and streets into dangerous, fast-moving currents.
At 4:47 p.m., Tucson fire crews received reports of a vehicle trapped in moving water near Calle Betelgeux and Avenida Sirio. Firefighters found the driver sitting on top of the vehicle and used an aerial ladder to safely get them out.
Then, at 5:01 p.m., firefighters received a second call about another vehicle being swept away toward Speedway Boulevard, with the driver still inside. The vehicle continued down the Alamo Wash as firefighters rushed to save the driver. Two firefighters and a neighbor were able to pull the driver to safety, away from the fast-moving waters…
