Homing Project expansion plan divides Northside Keeling neighborhood

The Homing Project is seeking city approval to expand its micro home community for people experiencing homelessness in the Keeling neighborhood from 10 units to as many as 20, a move organizers say will help address the housing crisis.

Kris Olson-Garwal, the organization’s founder, and Luis Adame, its manager, submitted a 100-foot special exception procedure notice to Tucson’s Planning and Development Services, asking the agency to allow more homes to be built on the property in the Keeling neighborhood on the city’s northside.

“Our goal is to get people off the street, get them treated for whatever ails them, get them trained if they need it for a job that pays a living wage,” Olson-Garwal said…
