TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Today is a First Alert Weather Day for rain, and tomorrow is a First Alert Weather Day for gusty winds. Radar has already detected scattered showers this morning, bringing light to moderate rain, with localized downpours and a few lightning strikes. Shower and isolated storm chances increase through the day, with a 50% chance for Tucson. Storm chances continue overnight and into Sunday and Monday.
The main storm threats are damaging wind gusts, small hail and localized heavy rain. Winds will pick up this afternoon, becoming gustier overnight and into Sunday. A Wind Advisory begins at 2 a.m. Sunday for central and western Pima County and central Pinal County. At 7 a.m., it expands to eastern Pima County, including Tucson, eastern Pinal County and Santa Cruz County. Advisories expire at 11 p.m. Sunday. Winds may gust up to 45 mph, with isolated strong to severe storms capable of producing localized gusts up to 60 mph.
