Valentine’s Day is near, and there are several alternative date ideas to the usual dinner. One option is the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium at the University of Arizona. The planetarium has two floors of science exhibits, including ‘Undersea Discovery’, ‘Bugs’ and ‘Destination: Mars’. On Valentine’s Day, it will host an event featuring a show called ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ and ‘Laser Movie Magic’. The event has grown since last year to include more activities for couples.

Nick Letson, Flandrau’s marketing and communications manager, said the event will also have a phonograph for couples to make music and a craft activity to create a constellation. The shows will be at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., with tickets costing $25 per person. Although these tickets are sold out, daytime planetarium show tickets are available on the website.

Another option for Valentine’s Day is Dave & Buster’s Tucson. They are offering a Valentine’s Day Dinner promotion, which includes a three-course meal, two power cards, and country line dancing lessons. The deal is $110 for two tickets. Shawn McCarthy, the general manager, said the aim is to offer an alternative to dining out.
