The University of Arizona has seen an increase in various crimes as the spring semester progresses towards midterms. The Daily Wildcat has been reporting on these incidents to keep the campus community informed. One incident involved a woman, not associated with the university, found sleeping in the McKale Center’s swim team common room. She was around 40 years old and wore a construction vest. She left when asked, and two Powerade drinks were reported missing from the refrigerator.

Another incident involved a student’s vehicle break-in near the Honors Village, resulting in a shattered window. Two bikes were also stolen from a rack near the Arizona-Sonora dorm by two unidentified males, presumably in their 30s. A blue Jeep Sahara parked in the Sixth Street Parking Garage had all five tires stolen.

Cybercrime has been a significant issue as well. A female student reported a scam on the GroupMe social media platform. She bought $200 tickets from a supposed fellow student but never received them. The University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) traced the CatCard used for identity verification to another female student who was scammed in March 2023.
