University of Arizona Police Respond to Off-Campus Shooting Near Florita Street and Santa Rita Avenue

The University of Arizona Police Department alerted the campus community about an off-campus shooting near Florita Street and Santa Rita Avenue on February 17, 2024. The initial alert was sent at 1:41 a.m., advising people to avoid the area. By 1:47 a.m., law enforcement had arrived at the scene.

At 2 a.m., notifications confirmed no injuries from the shooting, but the area was still to be avoided. The suspect, described as a tall male with dreadlocks, was reported to have fled the scene in a dark-colored car, either a Cadillac or Infiniti, by 2:26 a.m. His location was unknown, but officers remained at the scene.

By 2:57 a.m., an alert confirmed no ongoing threat to the community. Alerts continued until 3:02 a.m., directing those affected to university and community resources.
