Many restaurants are born on the South Side, but few eventually expand to more prominent addresses in the city. For one local restaurant, all of that is about to change, as a South Side staple is expanding and moving into a large space right on Broadway.
If you’ve spent any time grubbing on food on the South Side, chances are you’ve stopped by Taqueria La Esquina once or twice in the past. Located at 4876 South 6th Avenue, the vibrant restaurant has a bit of someone for everyone. With colorful street tacos to picture-worthy cocktails, it’s a place to stop by, kick back, and have some food made for you from scratch.
Now, the owners of Taqueria La Esquina are bringing more of their flavors to the corner of Broadway and Cracroft. It’s a massive space that The Dutch previously called home. The new restaurant, Copal, will be the next step in the family behind Taqueria La Esquina’s vision. The added space will make it possible to build upon the previous menu, although you will find a number of similarities with the menu, as well as the drinks.
