Doug Emhoff to campaign for Harris-Walz ticket in Tucson

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff will visit Tucson as part of the Harris-Walz campaign to mobilize support and reach voters in Arizona and other crucial swing states.

Emhoff will also visit Henderson, Nevada, on Thursday and central Florida on Friday, during the Harris campaign’s “New Way Forward” tour targeting key battleground states. Emhoff’s visit comes two days after the first presidential debate between Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump.

With less than 60 days until the election, Emhoff will focus on Harris’ vision for a “brighter, more hopeful future” compared with the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, which would give a reelected Trump “unprecedented, unchecked power to enact his extreme and dangerous agenda,” the Harris campaign said in a written statement. Trump repeatedly has disavowed Project 2025, as recently as Tuesday’s debate.

This will be Emhoff’s first trip to Tucson during the 2024 election cycle after he visited the Phoenix area in July, when he met with Black leaders in Scottsdale, marked the opening of the Biden-Harris campaign’s 12th field office in Phoenix, and promoted the Biden administration’s efforts to improve public transportation in Tempe.
