Grant Road and Alvernon Way Intersection Work to Begin Oct. 6

TUCSON – The City of Tucson announced today that starting Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 8 p.m., traffic control measures will be implemented at the Grant Road and Alvernon Way intersection to prepare for months of underground utility work.

This phase is part of the larger Grant Road Improvement Project, accordiing to the city.

Through March 2025, traffic restrictions will be in place at the intersection, with crews working on temporary travel lanes, installing new water and sewer lines, and upgrading storm drain systems.

From October 6 to early November, two northbound and two southbound lanes will remain open on Alvernon Way, along with one lane in each direction on Grant Road.

Left turns will be prohibited in all directions, the city stated.

Beginning in early November and lasting through March 2025, traffic on Alvernon Way will be reduced to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes, with continued restrictions of one lane in each direction on Grant Road.

Crews will work from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Access to businesses in the area will be limited to right turns in and out, the city says.
