Obama to travel to Arizona, Nevada for Harris

Former President Obama will travel to swing states Arizona and Nevada next week to campaign for Vice President Harris, the campaign shared first with The Hill.

The former president will campaign in Tucson, Ariz., on Oct. 18 and in Las Vegas on Oct. 19. His trip to Nevada will mark the first day of early voting in the state.

He plans to be on the trail for Harris until Election Day, doing early voting pushes, according to the campaign. A campaign official also told The Hill that Obama’s travel continues to show how seriously the Harris team is taking Arizona and Nevada.

Obama kicked off his battleground state swing for Harris on Thursday with a rally in Pittsburgh.

Harris and Obama’s friendship goes back 20 years to when they met on the campaign trail as he was running for Senate. Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama endorsed Harris less than a week after she took over at the top of the Democratic ticket after President Biden dropped out of the race.

The Obamas gave some of the most memorable speeches at the August’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The campaign has not announced whether the former first lady would also campaign for Harris.
