Elderly West Virginia woman sues Greyhound after allegedly being left in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma desert

Being stranded “in the middle of nowhere” can be a nightmare for anyone of any age, but that’s what an 89-year-old West Virginia woman said happened to her while traveling on a Greyhound bus in Oklahoma.

According to the online legal journal West Virginia Record , Lois Harper has filed a complaint against Greyhound Lines after being stranded in Oklahoma while on a trip to visit her daughter in Tucson, Arizona.

According to the complaint obtained by West Virginia Record, on September 1, 2023, the bus driver told passengers, including Harper, to exit for a scheduled break in which the bus doors would be locked until 7:45 p.m.

The complaint shows that Harper sat waiting inside the convenience store, partially because she was traveling alone and because of her advanced age.

It is reported that when she returned to the bus at approximately 7:35, she found the bus pulling out of the lot.

She testified in the complaint that she tried to flag it down, but it did not stop.

According to the complaint, Harper was “stranded in the desert, in the middle of nowhere, in Oklahoma. She left her suitcase, phone charger, all her belongings, and her empty seat on the bus as it continued west.
