AZ Senate committee OKs bill to detain people suspected of drug impairment for up to 5 days

A state Senate Committee approved a bill to allow law enforcement to detain people for up to five days if they are suspected of being impaired by drugs.

Supporters say the measure focuses on people already being picked up by police using existing public health laws for risk of harming themselves or others.
