Road rage isn’t just for angry teenagers and emotionally stunted commuters. Even first responders who handle the deadly aftermath of road rage incidents are susceptible to the grip of anger and desperation. In that vein, an Arizona firefighter is facing many charges and termination following a traffic tantrum involving a gunshot and a brake-checking Tesla.
A Tuscon, Arizona, firefighter is looking at termination and criminal charges following a nearly deadly road rage incident
Raul Carrasco, a 58-year-old Tuscon firefighter, is awaiting his trial for a potentially deadly road rage incident. According to documentation from law enforcement, Carrasco cut off another driver in his Tesla , forcing another vehicle to brake hard. Carrasco then hit his brakes repeatedly, using the Tesla to brake-check the other car.
The accuser, who was riding in the second vehicle with his friend and his stepson, says the Arizona firefighter repeatedly pulled alongside his vehicle. More troublingly, the driver says Carrasco pulled a gun and pointed it at them while stopped at a traffic light. Fortunately, when the light turned green, the Tesla pulled away. End of the story, right? Not quite.
Carrasco reportedly fired a shot, causing the other driver enough concern to stop and take a picture of the gun-toting Tesla driver and his vehicle. However, when police contacted the Tucson firefighter about the road rage incident, he was adamant that the other driver was the aggressor.
