University of Arizona shooting suspect pleads guilty

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The suspect from a fatal shooting on the University of Arizona campus last year has reached a plea deal.

Ryan Romero-Encinas pleaded guilty to manslaughter on March 14. He had been facing a charge of first-degree murder.

Authorities said Romero-Encinas fatally shot Minhaj Jamshidi following an argument at the sand volleyball courts on campus on Sept. 22, 2024.
