A 52-year-old Chinese woman committed suicide at the Border Patrol station in Yuma on Saturday after she was taken into custody by agents in California, U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal said Wednesday.
The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was taken into custody for overstaying a visitor visa before being transferred to a facility in Yuma, Arizona, where she took her own life.
