Arizona Department of Corrections implements Easter lockdowns after violent incidents

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry says it placed restrictions on several state prisons following a series of inmate on inmate violence. The actions come following several deaths taking place at various units.

The department lists units in Tucson and Yuma as among those impacted. As a result of the restrictions, visitations will be closed indefinitely. The department previously said the units would be on lockdown with no visitation through the Easter holiday.

Director Ryan Thornell says the actions to address violence “will ensure the personal safety of staff and inmates.”…
