Arizona Weather Shift: Gusty Winds, Cooler Temps, and Thunderstorm Risk by Sunday Afternoon

Phoenix, Arizona – Gusty winds and scattered showers are set to shake up the weekend across Arizona, as a strong low-pressure system moves into the Desert Southwest by Sunday afternoon, bringing much cooler temperatures and the chance for isolated thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, breezy to locally windy conditions will develop Saturday across western Arizona deserts, with impacts spreading into most of the state by Sunday. Rain chances remain low—between 15% and 30%—but a few thunderstorms could spark across the lower deserts, including the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas, by late Sunday.

High temperatures will tumble from the low-to-mid 90s on Saturday to the low 70s by Sunday afternoon in central and southern Arizona.
