Humane Society of Southern Arizona eliminates eight full-time positions

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Humane Society of Southern Arizona, which has faced years of controversy, has eliminated eight full-time positions and created four new ones.

HSSA CEO Dr. Kristin Barney, who was hired about a year ago, made the announcement on Friday and said it was done to “ensure alignment with national best practices, and secure the financial health of HSSA.”

“To ensure HSSA’s long-term sustainability and our ability to serve our community for decades to come, we are restructuring to strengthen our financial footing and align our operations with proven best practices in animal welfare,” Barney said…
