Mist, shade at Oro Valley market

Cooling mist fell upon guests and vendors at the Oro Valley Farmers Market on June 14, ahead of the ribbon-cutting for the now-completed shade structure at Steam Pump Ranch.

“What an upgrade!” exclaimed Nick Szumowski, executive director of Heirloom Farmers Markets, which operates the market nearly every Saturday. “Thank you. We’re so excited.”

The structure “adds to the functionality, comfort and enjoyment of the Heirloom Farmers Market,” Mayor Joe Winfield said before the ribbon flew. The town is “thrilled” with the new addition, he said. It provides shade and “a cooler experience” for vendors and guests alike…
